FDNY Lobby Plaque Wall, 9 MetroTech, Brooklyn, NY

Project Details

In the lobby of FDNY Headquarters, a new wall extends the Department’s World Trade Center Memorial Wall, which honors members who served at the World Trade Center and continues to grow as the toll from WTC-related illness rises. The project replaces an existing glass window wall with a new partition designed to match the original plaque wall in size and finish, so the two read as one memorial. The window wall is carefully dismantled and returned to the building owner, and marble from the original base is salvaged and reused alongside new marble matched to the lobby’s existing pilasters.

The new wall was dedicated on September 2, 2026, when the Department added the names of 36 members who died of illnesses tied to their rescue and recovery work at the World Trade Center. Read the Brooklyn Eagle’s coverage of the 2026 dedication.
